Presentation of the association Spirale Verte and Partage, SVP.
The association SVP was created in July 2003 by Laurence Villaz and Cédric Coquet. The objective of SVP is to popularize the culture and utilization of spirulina as a means for fighting against malnutrition. Malnutrition leads to a general loss of vitality due to an unbalanced diet, something wich affects the North as well as the South. The idea behind SVP is one ef solidarity and direct action which makes possible an autonomous spirulina farm which can bring health to the people and dignity to the farmer.
Why the name Spirale Verte et Partage? Spirale verte (green spiral) because thhis tiny “alga”, with such wonderful qualities is shaped in the form of a spiral. Partage because malnutrition is one of the main causes of mortality - malnutrition which is not a problem of agronomy, but a result of politics, a consequence of human stupidity. For many years health authorities have refused to endorse spirulina – partly out of ignorance and partly because spirulina represents formidable competition for certain well-established medical products.
In spite of making considerable progress in recent years, the culture of spirulina is having great difficulty in flourishing as it should. We must change the opinions of these authorities. All of us can help by sharing our ideas, our means, and our efforts. This is thz best way to bring spirulina to the battlefront against malnutrition.
